By Ciara Ní Ghabhann credit rugbymatters.net An impressive five tries from the home side (Fisher, Merchant, Scarratt, McLean, Clark) meant England won 31-0, atoning for their defeat to Wales last year. Flanker Heather Fisher scored her first ever try just four minutes in to today’s game, after a break from centre Emily Scarratt. Fisher showed her pace and strength in getting over the line, and although McLean... [Read the full story]

By Ciara Ní Ghabhann Although the A team beat the female equivalent of the Barbarians, with a wide range of international talent from various different countries, head coach Mike Barnett was disappointed; “We created lots of chances but the disappointing thing was that we didn’t finish off all of them or get all the points we deserved.” Both teams defended very well, and the score... U20 mount second half comeback to pip USA 13-12
January 17, 2010 · 3 Comments
Canadian Rugby The Canadian under 20 women’s team had a satisfying one point victory over their US counterparts, winning 13-12, to wrap a quick five day assembly in Lakeland, Florida. Trailing 12-8 with just a few minutes to go, it was the superb running of replacement wing Katie McNally that sealed the deal for Canada as stepped gingerly in scoring next to the corner flag to put her team in the lead by a point. Canada withstood the pressure of the Americans in the dying moments to save the victory. That being said, the US had the measure of the young Canadian team in the first half as Brie...
